Nearly a year after Operation Sindoor, India Today brings this ground report from Rann of Kutch in Gujarat where the Indian Army not only countered Pakistani threats during Operation Sindoor, but has been dominating this particular terrain with capability, enhancement, and preparedness.
Following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, the military deployed assets such as L70 air defence guns, patrol boats, radars, infantry battalions, drones, tanks, and artillery in coordination with the Air Force, Navy, Border Security Force, and Coast Guard. The deployment remains active to counter potential threats from Pakistan. The army conducts year-round amphibian operations and patrols across the ninety-six-kilometre creek stretch, navigating salty marshes and dense mangroves. Infantry units are equipped with AK-203 rifles, while T72 tanks feature enhanced anti-drone protection. The air defence grid, which neutralised multiple Pakistani drones during Operation Sindoor, remains active. Furthermore, soldiers undergo specialised training in drone warfare using simulators and obstacle-based field exercises. The integrated battle readiness ensures a strong defensive grid and offensive capability, securing India’s western front against aerial and ground incursions.
