A major political controversy has erupted over the proposed delimitation bill, triggering widespread protests across southern states. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister led the pushback by hoisting black flags and burning copies of the legislation, warning that the move poses a significant danger to regional representation. Chief Ministers from Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka have also opposed the bill, labeling it anti-constitutional. Congress echoed these concerns, questioning the urgency of the special parliamentary session ahead of state elections and describing the move as detrimental to the southern region. Conversely, regional parties like TDP and YSR Congress have supported the legislation, arguing that the proposed seat increases will be uniform and urging leaders not to mislead the public. The central government has strongly defended the bill, dismissing the criticism as unfounded.
