54th National Athletics Championship Rescheduled Due to Event Clash

The 54th National Athletics Championship has been rescheduled, with the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) moving the event by one week following a request from Sindh Athletics.

The championship will now be held from May 14 to May 17, instead of the previously scheduled May 7 to May 10. The change was made to avoid a clash with the Sindh Pink Games, which are set to begin on May 7, creating a conflict in the provincial sports calendar.

The event will take place at NED University and the Naval Sports Complex in Karachi. To address the intense heat typically experienced during May, organizers have planned to hold some competitions during nighttime hours.

Officials said the decision reflects coordination between sports bodies to prevent overlapping events and ensure broader participation. Scheduling adjustments remain a recurring challenge in Pakistan’s sporting calendar, particularly when multiple large-scale events are planned within the same timeframe.

The National Athletics Championship is one of Pakistan’s key domestic track and field events, bringing together athletes from departmental teams, provinces, and institutions to compete for national titles.

With the revised dates now confirmed, preparations will continue as Karachi gets ready to host the competition in mid-May.
