New film releases this week (from 9 April)

This week’s new releases include Rebel Wilson’s debut directorial film, The Deb and a 5 out of 5 rated film that follows three generations across eighty years. Also this week is a new A24 horror movie,  the studio behind Everything Everywhere All at Once , Midsommar and many recent greats and the new Halle Berry film takes us to Tuscany.

All That’s Left of You

Synopsis: All That’s Left of You premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, was featured at the Adelaide Film Festival, it was the Jordanian Official Entry for the Academy Awards and it won the Audience Favourite Award at the 2025 Sydney Film Festival as well as winning other awards. All That’s Left of You is an engrossing and moving account of a Palestinian family spanning three generations from 1948 to 2022.

You, Me & Tuscany

Synopsis: Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid, The Color Purple) stars as Anna, a young woman who has abandoned her dreams of becoming a chef and is now drifting through her twenties with a series of bad choices. When Anna loses her house-sitting job (and housing) in one fell swoop, a chance encounter with Matteo—a handsome Italian who happens to have a villa sitting empty in Tuscany—will inspire her to jet off for Italy, against the advice of her always-honest bestie, Claire (Home Before Dark’s Aziza Scott).
