Nvidia has rolled out DLSS 4.5 through a new Nvidia app beta update, introducing a set of features aimed at improving frame rates and image quality. The update is now live, with full functionality requiring GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.79 WHQL or newer.
6X Frame Generation Takes Center Stage
The key addition in DLSS 4.5 is the new 6x Multi Frame Generation mode. This feature builds on earlier versions of frame generation, which started at 2x and later expanded to 4x in DLSS 4.
With DLSS 4.5, the system can generate five additional frames for every natively rendered frame. This capability is available on GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs and is designed to significantly increase frame rates in supported titles.
Dynamic Frame Generation Adjusts Performance Automatically
DLSS 4.5 also introduces Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, which automatically adjusts frame generation levels based on performance requirements.
Nvidia states that this system balances frame rate, image quality, and responsiveness by switching between different multipliers instead of locking the user into a fixed setting. The company compares this behavior to an automatic transmission that adapts to different conditions.
Users who prefer manual control can select between dynamic and fixed modes through the Nvidia app.
Improvements to Image Quality
In addition to performance gains, DLSS 4.5 includes updates to Super Resolution using Nvidia’s second-generation transformer AI model.
These improvements aim to reduce ghosting and enhance temporal stability, addressing visual clarity concerns that can arise with higher frame generation. The update focuses on maintaining image quality alongside smoother performance.
Hardware Support LimitationsX
Multi Frame Generation in DLSS 4.5 is limited to the RTX 50 series GPUs. RTX 40 series graphics cards support standard Frame Generation but do not have access to the new multi-frame features.
Older RTX GPUs do not support these new capabilities.
