Quetta Gladiators secured their first win of PSL 2026 after restricting Hyderabad Kingsmen to 134 for 8 in Lahore, with Shamyl Hussain, Hasan Nawaz and Abrar Ahmed playing key roles.
Quetta Gladiators registered a 40-run win over Hyderabad Kingsmen in the fifth match of PSL 2026 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, after posting 174 for 8 and then holding Kingsmen to 134 for 8 in their 20 overs. Shamyl Hussain was named Player of the Match.
Batting first after winning the toss, Quetta recovered from an early wobble through Shamyl Hussain’s 54 off 41 balls and Hasan Nawaz’s 53 off 40. Tom Curran then added late momentum with 31 off 18, helping the Gladiators push to 174 for 8 after slipping from 114 for 3 to 121 for 5.

Hyderabad’s bowlers had their moments, especially M Theekshana, who returned 2 for 24, and Riley Meredith, who picked up 3 for 38. Akif Javed also claimed two wickets, but Quetta still found enough depth at the back end to build a score that proved well beyond Kingsmen’s reach.
In reply, Hyderabad Kingsmen never settled. Saim Ayub fell for 8 in the first over, Maaz Sadaqat was dismissed for a duck, and the innings kept losing shape as wickets fell at regular intervals. Marnus Labuschagne made 23, Irfan Khan scored 33, and Hassan Khan struck 31, but none of the efforts were enough to shift the pressure back onto Quetta.
Quetta’s bowling unit kept control through the middle overs, with Abrar Ahmed delivering the decisive spell of 3 for 23. Ahmed Daniyal supported strongly with 2 for 13, while Usman Tariq and Saud Shakeel chipped in with a wicket each as Kingsmen’s chase faded.
The result gave Quetta Gladiators their first win of the PSL 2026 season and handed Hyderabad Kingsmen another setback early in the campaign. For Quetta, this was a far more complete showing. For Hyderabad, the batting collapse will raise immediate questions.
