Bondi Hero Ahmed Al-Ahmed joins SBS HARMONY WEEK live broadcast

SBS is taking Harmony Week to the heart of Bondi, turning the Pavilion into a live multilingual hub of voices, stories and shared reflection.

Across the day, the multicultural broadcaster will spotlight community perspectives on belonging, respect and life in modern Australia.

SBS will stage a series of outside broadcasts from Bondi Pavilion, delivering programming in 10 languages including Arabic and Hebrew, alongside English content across radio, online and social platforms.

The initiative comes as communities continue to process the impact of the December attack at Bondi Beach, with the broadcasts creating space for reflection, conversation and collective healing.

SBS Acting Managing Director Jane Palfreyman said the event highlights the role of public broadcasting in strengthening inclusion and dialogue.

“As the national public broadcaster for all Australians, SBS is committed to amplifying diverse perspectives and fostering dialogue that strengthens inclusion.”

SBS Director of Audience and Language Content David Hua said broadcasting from Bondi allows SBS to meet audiences where they are and elevate voices in their own languages.

“It reflects the heart of SBS’s purpose – to cherish diversity, promote understanding, and help all Australians feel a sense of belonging.”

Throughout the day, community leaders, first responders, residents and visitors will take part in conversations, with appearances including Bondi Hero Ahmed Al-Ahmed and opportunities for the public to join via vox pops and activations.
