Dermott Brereton returns to Nine as network launches new AFL season lineup
The Nine Network is launching its 2026 AFL season coverage with a refreshed lineup of football programs — headlined by the return of Hawthorn premiership great Dermott Brereton to the broadcaster.
Brereton, a five-time premiership player with Hawthorn, will rejoin Nine with guest appearances across its AFL shows this season.

His return marks a notable addition to the network’s football commentary lineup ahead of the new season.
According to the network, Brereton will appear across several programs during the year as part of the broader Footy on Nine coverage.
Nine’s weekly schedule will again feature multiple AFL discussion shows across television and digital platforms.
The long-running AFL Sunday Footy Show returns for its 33rd season, airing in its traditional Sunday morning slot.
Hosted by Tony Jones, the program features Matthew Lloyd, Damian Barrett, Nathan Brown, Rory Sloane and Jess Webster reviewing the weekend’s action and previewing the matches ahead.
Meanwhile Footy Classified will again run as a two-night program, with separate panels across Monday and Tuesday nights.

The Monday night edition will be hosted by Sam McClure, alongside Matthew Lloyd, Damian Barrett and Jimmy Bartel, examining the major issues and fallout from the weekend’s AFL matches.
On Tuesday nights, Eddie McGuire will lead the panel with James Hird and Callum Twomey discussing the latest developments from across the league.
Away from broadcast television, Footy Furnace will continue in 2026 with James Hird and Jimmy Bartel, streaming exclusively on YouTube and 9Now.
The show will expand to three weekly episodes, including a preview program on Wednesday nights, a discussion show on Sunday mornings, and a wrap-up episode on Sunday nights covering the full round of football.
Another program returning to the schedule is Players, which will see Felix von Hofe hosting three AFL players each week for discussion and lighter moments.
