Pakistani National Killed in Iranian Missile Attack in Abu Dhabi

The UAE has confirmed that the person killed in the missile-related incident in Abu Dhabi was a Pakistani national.

The casualty is the first confirmed during the ongoing regional crisis following Israel’s strikes on Tehran, subsequent US involvement, and Iran’s retaliation across the Gulf.

In a follow-up statement, the UAE offered its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family and relatives of the Pakistani victim who died as a result of the Iranian attacks.

The UAE said it stands in full solidarity with the victim’s loved ones and stressed that the targeting of civilians and civilian sites is condemned and rejected under all legal and humanitarian standards.

The statement comes after UAE authorities previously said the country was targeted by Iranian ballistic missiles and that air defense systems intercepted a number of them. However, shrapnel from the interceptions reportedly fell into a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing material damage and resulting in the fatality.

The UAE also reiterated its strongest condemnation of what it described as blatant missile attacks affecting not only the UAE but also other countries in the region. It said such actions amount to a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter.

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it maintains full solidarity with regional states impacted by the attacks, emphasizing that regional security is indivisible and that any violation of one country’s sovereignty poses a direct threat to stability across the wider Gulf and Middle East.

At the same time, the UAE warned against turning the territories of regional states into arenas for settling disputes or expanding conflict. It urged restraint and called for diplomacy and serious dialogue as the most effective way to contain the crisis.

While calling for de-escalation, the UAE also stressed that it retains what it described as a full and legitimate right to respond in a manner that safeguards its sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity, and ensures the safety of citizens and residents in accordance with international law.
