Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Noida International Airport at Jewar next month, which is set to become India’s largest airport. Speaking to the Indian diaspora in Singapore, Adityanath stated that Uttar Pradesh now has the highest number of airports in the country and emphasized the state’s transformation over the last nine years. The Uttar Pradesh budget has allocated Rs 750 crore for the airport project, which includes Rs 700 crore for land acquisition and Rs 50 crore for construction works. The airport is being built in four phases under a Public-Private Partnership model by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG. Phase one construction is complete and the airport awaits its aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The project is expected to ease pressure on existing airports serving the Delhi NCR region.
