However, what looked like a routine home win began to unravel as Leeds showed resilience and guile.
The visitors were awarded a penalty of their own after a Chelsea defensive lapse, with Lukas Nmecha converting to reduce the deficit. Leeds then completed a stunning comeback when Noah Okafor finished from close range to level the contest.
Chelsea had the final chance to snatch the points late on but Palmer missed a glaring opportunity from a few yards out, a moment that could prove costly in the context of the top-four race.
The draw keeps Chelsea just outside the Champions League places but halts what had been promising momentum under new management.
Leeds, who had arrived at the Bridge under pressure and low in the table, will take huge confidence from fighting back for a valuable point.

Meanwhile at Goodison Park, Everton suffered a disappointing 2–1 home defeat to Bournemouth in a rain-soaked encounter that saw momentum shift dramatically in the second half.
The Toffees took the lead just before halftime when Iliman Ndiaye calmly converted a penalty after Jarrad Branthwaite was fouled in the box, giving Everton a deserved advantage heading into the break.
The match swung back in Bournemouth’s favour after the interval. Just after the hour mark Rayan nodded Bournemouth level with a powerful header, and shortly afterwards Amine Adli’s set-piece finish put the visitors ahead.
Everton’s afternoon got worse when Jake O’Brien was shown a red card for a last-man foul, leaving his side with ten men and needing to chase the game.
Despite heavy pressure late on — including goalkeeper Jordan Pickford venturing into the Bournemouth box in search of an equaliser — Everton could not find a second goal.
The result ends Everton’s recent unbeaten run and will raise fresh concerns about their defensive organisation and home form. Bournemouth, by contrast, will be delighted with a gutsy away performance that boosts their mid-table standing.

In North London, Newcastle United left Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points following a 2–1 victory that represents a significant result for Eddie Howe’s side.
Newcastle took the lead through Malick Thiaw just before half-time as Archie Gray equalised from a corner for Spurs.
However, a sizzling run from Anthony Gordon was well-finished by Jacob Ramsey to put the Magpies ahead again and turn the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into Hell’s Kitchen.
Newcastle, who have battled inconsistency in recent weeks, showed greater cohesion and tactical discipline — earning valuable points that lift them further clear of the bottom half.
