An outstanding display from American goalkeeper Heather Hinz ensured it finished goalless in the Big Blue for the very first time between Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC.
The away side almost bagged the opening goal inside four minutes from a corner but thankfully for Victory captain Kayla Morrison, her headed clearance clattered back off the post and away to safety.

Sydney FC midfielder Amelia Cassar then took aim from the edge of the box, curling a sublime effort towards the top corner which was tipped over the bar by Victory keeper Courtney Newbon.
Second best in the opening 20 minutes, Victory finally sprang to life as American striker Kennedy White lashed a low effort towards goal which struck the foot of the post.
Hinz then defended her goal brilliantly at the start of the second half, flying off her line before spreading herself wide to thwart White when the American was one-on-one and looked destined to score.
Brought on in the second half, forward Jodi Ulkekul forced Newbon into a smart save at her near post before Hinz then did her best at the other end to force an Alana Jancevski freekick away from danger.
Victory attacker Rachel Lowe wasted a glorious chance to break the deadlock in the 82nd minute as she skied her effort over the bar from close range.
Now throwing everything forward in a bid to find a winner Ella O’Grady sent an effort wide of the post in the 85th minute as the home side piled on the pressure.
The standout performer on the day, Hinz then pulled off a brilliant late save to deny White again, this time showcasing her excellent reflexes as she palmed away White’s flick-on at the near post.
The scoreless draw at the Home of the Matildas means Melbourne Victory remain sixth on the ladder with 17 points to their name.
As for Sydney FC, Ante Juric’s side have now gone seven games without a win for just the second time in their Ninja A-League history and sit 10th on the ladder.
Furthermore, Sydney FC have now played 11 games this season and have failed to score in seven of those encounters.
