Hotel restaurants are playing a larger role in how Americans plan their travel, according to OpenTable, and five in New England are a chef’s kiss.

3 New England hotels just ranked among the 100 best in the world
The online restaurant reservation service company released a list of the 2026 top 100 hotel restaurants in America on Tuesday and included Contessa at The Newbury Boston and Mooo Beacon Hill at XV Beacon, both in Boston; Earth at Hidden Pond at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport and White Barn Inn Restaurant at White Barn Inn in Kennebunk, both in Maine; and Michael Jordan’s Steak House at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.
“Restaurants aren’t just an itinerary line item anymore, they’re the anchor,” said Matt Davis, head of North America hotels at OpenTable, in a statement. “Our research backs this up as half of Americans have booked a hotel specifically because of its restaurant.”
According to OpenTable, hotel restaurant dining by travelers is up 13% year-over-year and up 7% across all diners. What’s more, 60% of folks planning summer travel have booked a hotel because of its restaurant.

Italian restaurant Contessa is a rooftop eatery with sweeping views of Back Bay and the Boston Public Garden, and Mooo Beacon Hill is a modern steakhouse in Beacon Hill with an award-winning wine list.
Nestled among the trees, Earth at Hidden Pond offers a farm-to-table menu that celebrates locally sourced ingredients and vegetables from its organic gardens, and White Barn Inn Restaurant serves contemporary New England cuisine.
Finally, Michael Jordan’s Steak House is the basketball star’s upscale steak and seafood chain.
“A great hotel restaurant immerses guests in the local culture, telling the story of a destination through its seasons, local ingredients and customs,” Kyle Connaughton, owner and chef of SingleThread Restaurant & Inn in Healdsburg, Calif., which also made the list, told OpenTable. “Guests want to truly experience a city or a place through their stay.”
