2 injured in head-on collision on Cape Cod

Two drivers — one from North Carolina and the other from Pocasset — were injured in the collision, police say.

A man was flown to a hospital by Boston MedFlight and another was transported by ambulance following a head-on crash in Bourne on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Officers responded to Sandwich Road around 7:30 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of a head-on crash with injuries, according to a statement from the Bourne Police Department shared on Facebook

Police said the collision involved a 35-year-old North Carolina man driving a red 2004 Jeep and a 43-year-old Pocasset man driving a 2023 Toyota pickup truck. The vehicles collided head-on in the westbound travel lane.

The Pocasset man was transported by Boston MedFlight to an area hospital, while the North Carolina driver was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, police said.

Authorities did not release the names of either driver. 

“Due to the severity of the injuries, the Cape Cod Law Enforcement Council’s Crash Reconstruction team responded to investigate the crash,” police said. 

Officials did not disclose the extent of the drivers’ injuries or whether any were considered life-threatening.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
