Employees at the business were suffering from “serious illness, dizziness, eye irritation, and other symptoms,” according to the Hudson Fire Department.
More than a dozen people were hospitalized after being sickened in an industrial incident in Hudson Thursday morning, the local fire department said.
The Hudson Fire Department responded to an “industrial business” on Parmenter Road at around 8:45 a.m. after an employee there pulled a fire alarm, the department wrote in a press release.
Employees at the business were suffering from “serious illness, dizziness, eye irritation, and other symptoms,” the department wrote.
Sixteen employees were sent to local hospitals, according to the department.
Firefighters made entry to conduct atmospheric monitoring inside the building and believe a chemical process contributed to illnesses,” the department said in the release.
Firefighters from departments in Marlborough, Stowe, Maynard, and Berlin provided mutual aid by either responding to the scene, responding to a separate medical call in Hudson, or manning Hudson fire stations during the incident, the Hudson department said.
