15 standout looks from Genelia Deshmukh’s Indianwear closet

Genelia Deshmukh’s Indianwear wardrobe is at its best when it stays close to textiles. Across saris, lehengas and anarkalis, her Indianwear wardrobe moves between weaves that take months to finish and dupattas painted like murals, always styled with a sense of play.

Here are 15 looks that show how she wears craft: sometimes nostalgic, sometimes inventive.

Paithani lehenga by Juhi Shah

Deshmukh stepped out in a bespoke Paithani lehenga by Juhi Shah featuring a mustard-gold choli, a voluminous Paithani skirt in cotton and a tissue organza dupatta. Signature Paithani-style vine and parrot motifs inundate the the skirt with a wide Muniya border at the hem. Hand-embroidered floral motifs dot the tissue organza dupatta, too. She accessorised the look with a bespoke nath from Mortantra, a Maharashtrian thushi necklace from Harubhai Zaveri, layered with a long temple necklace and from Sajni, and green glass bangles and juttis by 5 Elements by Radhika Gupta. She brought back the heritage chand-suraj hair ornaments which completed the ceremonial look.
