Ed Kavalee’s comedy telemovie Cop This has locked in its premiere date, with a first look now released ahead of its October premiere on 10.
First announced by the network back in April, the Melbourne-shot production brings together a who’s who of Australian comedy — and that’s genuinely not an overstatement — for a story set inside a suburban police station on Grand Final Day.
Created, written, produced and co-directed by Kavalee, Cop This follows Sergeant Jo Hardy (Nicolette Minster) and Matt Pepper (Ray O’Leary), the station’s two remaining officers, as they prepare to be replaced by an AI-powered police “Terminal”.

Their final shift takes a turn when lifelong criminal Jayden (Gary Sweet) is placed in their care, while actor Peter King (Toby Truslove) arrives at the station to go full method for a role.
The huge ensemble also includes Rob Carlton, Tony Martin, Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann, Celia Pacquola, Luke McGregor, Rob Sitch, Josh Lawson, Julia Morris, Dave Hughes, Dilruk Jayasinha, Lizzy Hoo, Tommy Little, Glenn Robbins, Mick Molloy, Tom Gleisner, Kate Langbroek and Grant Denyer.
Filmed entirely in Melbourne, the telemovie comes from Kavalee’s independent production company EHK Productions, with major production investment from Paramount Australia and New Zealand and financing in association with VicScreen.
10 has scheduled the telemovie for a 9.40pm Monday night slot following HYBPA?, arguably the biggest lead-in it could have, although the move comes as the network’s schedule remains relatively light ahead of Big Brother returning in October.
