A person was injured in a shooting in North Cambridge Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Authorities received multiple calls around 3:20 p.m. reporting gunshots near Russell Field, the Cambridge Police Department said in a press release.

Emergency responders found one victim “suffering from related injuries” and took them to a local hospital, police said.

Law enforcement said they do not know the victim’s current condition.

“There is not believed to be any on-going danger to the community as a result of this incident,” police said.

Russell Field sits off of Rindge Avenue, next to the Alewife MBTA stop. The field is used by the Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School sports teams.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Authorities ask anyone with relevant information to call police detectives at (617) 349-3300.
