South Australian sporting clubs, fishing groups and active recreation organisations are being encouraged to get their applications in, with more than $1.4 million in funding now up for grabs.
Round 56 of the Malinauskas Government’s Active Club Program is now open, with eligible clubs able to apply for grants of up to $3,000 to help cover the cost of essential equipment, uniforms, small-scale infrastructure upgrades and other items that support their members.
This latest funding round also includes a dedicated $200,000 stream for recreational fishing clubs, recognising the challenges the sector has faced as a result of the algal bloom.
The grants are designed to help grassroots organisations create more accessible and affordable opportunities for South Australians to get involved in sport and active recreation, while also supporting health, wellbeing and social connection across local communities.
In the previous round of the program, 568 clubs shared in $1.34 million to improve the programs, services and facilities they provide.
Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing Rhiannon Pearce said, “Grassroots sport and active recreation clubs play a vital role in keeping South Australians active, connected and engaged in their communities.
“The Active Club Program delivers practical funding support that helps clubs strengthen their programs, services and facilities, while reducing barriers that can prevent people from participating.”
Funding can be used for a range of club needs, from new equipment and uniforms through to small infrastructure projects and initiatives designed to create more inclusive environments.
The program also supports the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, which aims to build a diverse, equitable and sustainable sport and active recreation sector across the state.
Applications for Round 56 are now open and close at midday on Wednesday, October 14th.
