Japanese band ZUTOMAYO has recently released an animated music video for the song “Medianoche.”
The animation features a retro game-inspired approach, with pixelated outlines and shots that feature game UI elements like health bars or an equipped item display. Some parts of the video go further with camera angles and character movements that make it resemble gameplay footage.
Illustrator and animator TVCHANY was responsible for the “Medianoche” music video’s animation. They previously collaborated with ZUTOMAYO for videos like “Time Left,” “Mirror Tune,” and “Stay Foolish.”
The “Medianoche” song is currently available to stream and download. An older ZUTOMAYO song, “Hippocampal Pain” (which also has a TVCHANY music video), was featured in a mashup animated music video with Persona 3 Reload’s “Mass Destruction -Reload-” that dropped on February 1.
