Voice actor Yuichiro Umehara is joining the voice cast of the upcoming The Villager of Level 999 TV anime series. The anime will premiere in Japan in July 2026.
Umehara will voice the demon character Menou. He joins a previously announced voice cast that consists of:
- • Satoshi Inomata as Koji Kagami
- • Nao Toyama as Alice
- • Hiroya Egashira as Takako
- • Nobunaga Shimazaki as Rex
- • Manaka Iwami as Krull
- • Aoi Koga as Tina
- • Lynn as Paruna
Yoshinobu Kasai (180-Byo de Kimi no Mimi o Shiawase ni Dekiru ka?) is directing the anime series, with Shinzo Fujita (To Your Eternity) as series composer and Kentaro Matsumoto as character designer. Brain’s Base is in charge of the animation production.
The fantasy light novel series is written by Koneko Hoshitsuki and illustrated by Fumi. It was first published by Enterbrain on April 30, 2016 and ended on January 25, 2019. Eight volumes were published in total.
The series began as a web novel that debuted on Shosetsuka ni Naro in July 2015. A manga adaptation by Kenichi Iwamoto was launched in May 2017 and is available in English digitally on Kadokawa’s BookWalker service under the English title The Level 999 Villager.

The main synopsis of the The Villager of Level 999 manga is described on BookWalker as:
Monsters did not always exist in the island country of Hexaldoria, once known as Japan.
But, once monsters appeared, their numbers grew in an instant. Eighty percent of the world is now too dangerous for people to live in. With the monsters’ arrival, the world bestowed “Classes” upon its people.
Classes are assigned at birth, and most people live according to them. There are eight COMPETENT classes: FIGHTER, HUNTER, CLERIC, WARRIOR, MAGE, MERCHANT, THEIF. And three special ORACLE classes: KING, SAGE, HERO. The weakest Class of all is VILLAGER.
However, Kouji Kagami became “LEVEL 999”–the highest level that no one had reached before. When he met the daughter of the Demon King, the world started to change!
