Younger me, I thought of you today,
So lost, your future drifting far away.
You tried to chase the sun through endless gloom,
But rain clouds kept stealing your view.
Your mind held you prisoner, wrapped in doubt,
Your tongue was tied, though inside you wanted to shout.
Every dream you carried felt far from true,
Like happiness was something not meant for you.
Younger me, you’re just a memory now,
You found a way, though I’m not quite sure how,
The girl you dreamed of, confident, bright, free,
Stands here today, grown from who you used to be.
And when I turn and look back at your face,
I see the pain you carried in that place.
I should feel pride for everything I’ve achieved,
But part of me still aches for the girl who dared to dream.
I wish I could go back and take your hand,
To tell you gently that I understand.
The storms don’t last, they slowly fade away,
And clearer skies will find you one bright day.
But maybe every tear, each lonely night,
Was guiding you toward this beautiful life.
Younger me, I thought of you today,
And I’ll carry you with me along the way.
