Why was Kevin Schade sent off? Brentford man shown straight red card against Aston Villa

Brentford star Kevin Schade was shown a straight red card against Aston Villa after an incident involving Matty Cash.

The two players were battling it out for the ball, with both falling to the ground during the altercation.

As Schade went to get back up, the German appeared to aim a boot into Cash’s stomach, who was still down.

The Villa star writhed in agony, provoking a furious reaction from his teammates and fans.

Referee Tim Robinson made his way over and brandished a straight red card with no doubt in his mind.

There were echoes of David Beckham’s famous red card against Argentina in 1998 after kicking out at Diego Simeone.

While many fans might debate that the sending-off was fairly soft, considering there was not much force in the kick, doing so immediately warrants a red card.

Speaking in the Sky Sports studio, former Villa star Micah Richards said: “It was very dramatic. He just kicks out…

“On the technicality, it probably is a red card.”

However, the red card did not stop Brentford – who went on to take the lead through Dango Outtara moments later.

Just before half time, the striker got in behind the Villa defence but saw his initial effort blocked by Pau Torres.

The ball fell kindly for the former Bournemouth man, though, who immediately lashed it into the top corner.

It is only the 23-year-old’s fourth goal in the Premier League this season for the Bees since making a £45million move to west London.
