Why Sing, When You Can Warble? TV Anime Series

Voice actress Nene Hieda is joining the voice cast of the upcoming Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? TV anime series. The anime will begin broadcasting in Japan in April 2026. 

Hieda will voice Makoto Mitsuki, who is the childhood friend of the show’s main character, Arata.  

She joins an anime voice cast that includes: 

  • • Yuria Kozuki as Kujima
  • • Ayumu Murase as Arata Koda
  • • Yohei Azakami as Suguru Koda
  • • Ryoko Shiraishi as Miyoshi Koda
  • • Hirofumi Nojima as Masaomi Koda

Noriyuki Nomata is directing the anime series, with Shinichiro Kimura (Hand Maid May) as series director, Yasunori Yamada as series composer, and Hanako Mitsubachi as character designer. Studio Hibari is in charge of the animation production.  

The anime is based on the comedy manga series by Akira Konno, which was serialized in Shogakukan’s Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine from September 10, 2021 to April 12, 2024. Five total tankobon volumes were released in Japan. The Japanese title is Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo

Crunchyroll will stream the Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? anime in select countries and territories worldwide. It describes the main synopsis as: 

In the fall of his first year of junior high school, Arata Kouda encountered a strange thing—-. In this home comedy, a mysterious creature named “Kujima” brings new life to the Konohda family, where the atmosphere is slightly tense due to the concern for the eldest son, a ronin student who is preparing for the entrance examinations! By the way, the creature, who calls himself Kuzima, speaks normal language and eats the same food as humans (or insects). Did he come from outer space, or did he…!
