Four additional cast members and a music video have been revealed for the Whoever Steals This Book anime film. The film premiered in Japanese theaters on December 26, 2025.
The four new cast members for the anime film include:
- • Inori Minase as Kazune Mikura
- • Akio Otsuka as the owner of a coffee shop
- • Shun Horie as “Tori no Negima”
- • Masaya Matsukaze as a regular coffee shop customer

They join a voice cast that consists of:
- • Rin Kataoka as Mifuyu Mikura
- • Sora Tamaki as Mashiro
- • Nao Toyama as Hirune Mikura
- • Junichi Suwabe as Ayumu Mikura
- • Shizuka Ito as Keiko Yosano
- • Shimba Tsuchiya as Takafumi Haruta
- • Romi Park as Tamaki Mikura
Meanwhile, the music video highlights the film’s main theme song “Share” by Japanese singer YUKI.
Daiki Fukuoka (Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero Season 2) is directing the anime film and is also serving as storyboard artist and unit director. Other staff include Yasuhiro Nakanishi (A Couple of Cuckoos series composer) as story composer and scriptwriter, Keiko Kurosawa (Rumble Garanndoll) as character designer and animation director, Michiru Oshima (Anne Shirley) as music composer, and Yuji Higa (Kino’s Journey -the Beautiful World- the Animated Series production producer, Fate/Grand Carnival) as animation producer. Kagome Company (Kagokan) is in charge of the film’s animation production.
The original fantasy mystery novel by Nowaki Fukamidori was first published by Kadokawa Shoten in hardcover format on October 8, 2020 and in paperback on June 13, 2023. A manga adaptation by Kakeru Sora was serialized between 2021 to 2023.

Yen Press licensed the novel and manga adaptation for English release, describing the main premise of the former as:
Mifuyu is a high school student living with a large collection of books left by her great-grandfather — the vast library known as Mikura Hall. Although her father is the current caretaker, Mifuyu herself doesn’t share her family’s passion for literature. But when several books are stolen from the library, triggering an ancient curse, the town is transformed according to the stories within them—and the only way to put things right is for Mifuyu to catch the thief. With the help of a mysterious girl named Mashiro, Mifuyu sets out on an adventure through the different stories!
