When Kylie met Jamie | Write Out Loud

When Kylie met Jamie | Write Out Loud

(This is a silly story, inspired by my pal, Jovial Jamie)

Jamie the Singing Comic strode along, on his way to a gig, of which he’d had many.

He was never regarded as talented at school, but a teacher, Miss Fallowfrock, loved his funny smile and habit of pursing his lips, a right silly boy.

But it annoyed headmaster Billinbig, who called him a ‘big fool’.

For alas, the old sour puss had no insight into modern thinking regarding children’s learning,

and he was forever banishing Jamie and other naughty boys to detention.

However, he was to become ever thankful to his music master, Ted Topnote.

This wise man spotted something in the lad – he could sing a decent tune,

and was forever serenading the class with hits by Kylie Minogue.

She’s an Australian singer, you know.

He felt very sad, on the occasion she split with Jason, who went onto wear a Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Of course, that was in Jamie’s favourite musical show.

But Ted convinced him that the love story between him and the singing Australian was a feat of television fiction.

With help from a therapist, Jamie was diagnosed with something called autism, which accounted for his behaviour, creating a humour which many thought unique.

One day, singing in his dad’s garden shed, his facial expressions were so funny, a kid looking through a keyhole told his pals, and a queue to watch Jamie formed down the street.

Ever since, the young boy would boast, ‘I saw him first!’

When Miss Minogue appeared in the Singing Comic’s town he, her biggest fan, sat in the front row, and his funny faces were so entertaining she found it hard to sing.

‘I love you Jamie!’ she cried, when he stood outside the concert hall,

autograph book in hand.

Now the ‘funny lad’ gets lots of laughs, not to mention chart hits, with his stage partner Kylie.

So, listen up, budding teachers, here’s a word of advice – if you meet a kid like singing Jamie.

Don’t send him to detention, but give him free rein, he’s only looking for attention.
