CommBank Matildas midfielder Chloe Berryhill has signed with Western Sydney Wanderers for the remainder of the Ninja A-League season, after a 15-year career playing both domestically and in top overseas leagues.
Berryhill, who began her senior career in Sydney and helped win the 2012/13 Ninja A-League as a teenager, has since played for clubs across Australia and abroad, including stints in Sweden, Norway, England, the United States and Italy. She has earned over 50 caps for the Matildas and represented Australia at two Olympic Games and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Her arrival adds valuable experience and leadership to the Wanderers’ midfield as the club looks to build momentum in the second half of the season.
Head coach Geoff Abrahams said Berryhill’s signing reflects the club’s ambition:
“She brings a wealth of experience at the highest level and has an incredible understanding of what it takes to compete internationally,” he said.
Berryhill said returning home was motivated by both family and her goal to push for national selection. “I had a few agendas coming to the Wanderers. Obviously, I need to come home to try and get some game time before the Asian Cup,” she said.
“But mostly it was to be around my family to enjoy my football as this is my last year of playing and I really want to have a full circle moment… be around specific people like Alen Stajcic and Amy Harrison and Liv Price and Sham Khamis.”
