After becoming a certified blockbuster, and one of the biggest genre hits of 2025, Zach Cregger’s Weapons continues to collect accolades.
Following a heaping of critical praise, Weapons continues to collect nominations like they’re going out of style.
After already securing countless nods from the Critics’ Choice Awards, and the New York Film Critics’ Circle, Weapons has garnered its first heavy-hit nomination via the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
Amy Madigan, whose performance as Aunt Gladys continues to be singled out for praise, has secured a Golden Globe nod for Best Supporting Actress.
Of course, with the addition of this nomination, the odds rise significantly that Weapons and/or Madigan will secure an Academy Award nomination.
Alongside Madigan’s nomination, Weapons has also garnered a nod for Cinematic and Box-Office Achievement at the Globes. Odds are in Weapons favour that the film will secure the latter award, but it’s Madigan that every fan will be rooting for!
The countless nominations Weapons has secured, alongside the likes of Sinners, seemingly confirm that 2025 was another watershed year for the horror genre. Horror continues to garner mainstream recognition this year, continuing an upward swing for genre fare, which has by and large been ignored by Hollywood.
With all the success, it seems a given that Warner Bros. and Zach Cregger will be pressing ahead with that Weapons prequel. With Madigan’s character being the breakout star of Weapons, an Aunt Gladys origin prequel would undoubtedly be another hit.
We’ll be on the lookout for any further nominations Weapons might receive, and report the outcome of this momentous accolade for the film.
