Western Sydney Wanderers FC have confirmed the arrival of Scottish international winger Ryan Fraser on loan from Southampton FC, with the deal running through to the end of the 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
The Aberdeen-born wide man brings significant top-level experience to Western Sydney. Fraser began his career at Aberdeen FC before joining AFC Bournemouth, where over seven seasons he developed into one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wide players.
Across his time in England’s top flight, Fraser amassed more than 180 appearances, scored 18 goals and delivered 31 assists, becoming known as one of the competition’s most reliable and inventive wingers. He later continued his career with Newcastle United and Southampton, further reinforcing his pedigree at the highest level.
Ryan Fraser warms up prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Southampton and Portsmouth at St Mary’s Stadium in September, 2025.
Internationally, Fraser has earned 26 caps for Scotland, scoring four goals.
His pace, creativity and technical quality add a fresh attacking dynamic to the Wanderers, with his ability to unlock defences, provide precision service from wide areas and drive forward in transition expected to excite both members and supporters.
Fraser said he was motivated to make an immediate impact during the second half of the campaign.
“I wanted to do something different, out of my comfort zone, and instead of signing for another club in the English Championship after already playing in England for 13 years, I felt this opportunity was too good to turn down to help the club get back to where they want to be,” said Fraser.
“My aim is to help the club in any way I can as we start climbing the league. We are halfway through the season and there is still a lot that can happen. There’s a lot to play for.”
Fraser will be eligible for selection once his International Transfer Clearance is processed.
