Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising‘s new release date has been revealed to be August 28, 2026.
The anime movie, which was announced in April 2021, was previously scheduled for a winter 2025 release. Before that, it had winter 2024 as its release window.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising is the follow up to the 2013 film Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion, which served as a sequel to the 2011 TV anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Crunchyroll describes the original show as such:
She has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time… Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader of Mitakihara middle school, is one of those who lives such a life. One day, she had a very magical encounter. She doesn’t know if it happened by chance or by fate yet. This is a fateful encounter that can change her destiny- This is a beginning of the new story of the magical witch girls.
The Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise also includes a TV anime adaptation of the now-defunct Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story gacha game and its 2025 successor Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra.
