Two men break into argument at dhabha in East Delhi, one beats another to death; arrested | Delhi News

A 26-year-old rickshaw puller was arrested on Sunday hours after he allegedly killed a man in East Delhi’s Geeta Colony, said police. The 36-year-old victim was allegedly beaten to death with a wooden log after they had a heated argument at a dhabha, officers said.

A PCR call, said police, was received around 9:49 pm on Saturday to report that a man was lying in a pool of blood in Mahila Colony of Gandhi Nagar. When officers reached the spot, they found the man dead with severe head injuries.

The deceased was identified as Danua, a resident of Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh, worked as a pot maker and also pulled a cycle rickshaw in the area. The crime team inspected the scene and the body was sent to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital for post-mortem, said police.

According to the statement of the complainant, Khushi Ram (62), who runs a roadside dhaba in the area, Danua and another rickshaw puller, Bunti, had allegedly arrived together at the eatery in the evening and consumed liquor. An argument broke out between the them and they began abusing each other.

During the altercation, Bunti allegedly picked up a wooden log lying nearby and struck Danua on the head with force, causing him to collapse and bleed from the mouth. Danua later succumbed to his injuries.

A case of murder has been registered at Geeta Colony police station. The accused, Bunti, a resident of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested and the weapon of offence has been recovered, said offices, adding that further investigation is underway.
