Two labourers mowed down by car on NICE Road

Two daily wage labourers were killed in a hit-and-run incident on NICE Road in west Bengaluru on Friday (December 12, 2025) evening. The deceased have been identified as Rangamma (45) and Chowdamma (50), contracted labourers hailing from the Yadgir district.

On Saturday morning, the Kengeri Traffic Police arrested a man identified as Satyanarayana, a resident of Khatriguppe. The car allegedly involved in the incident has been seized.

The incident occurred around 6.15 p.m. on Friday (December 12), when the women were crossing the road some distance away from the toll plaza near Hosakerehalli. Satyanarayana, who was reportedly driving at high speed towards Magadi Road, allegedly mowed down both women and sped away without stopping.

A police officer investigating the case said the women had finished work and were heading home when the incident took place. “There was another person with the deceased who cautioned them against crossing the road at that spot, as it was unsafe, but they went ahead,” the officer told The Hindu. “We took up a hit-and-run case and traced the car by Friday night. The accused was taken into custody on Saturday morning,” he added.
