Almost a month after the Noida techie’s death in water filled pit in Greater Noida, a three-year-old child died after falling into a water-filled pit in Dalelgarh village in Greater Noida on Saturday, sparking anger among residents who alleged negligence by the local authority.
According to information, the child, Devansh, had come to his maternal grandparents’ home in Dalelgarh in Dankaur with his mother Anjali from Sikandrabad, Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. The family had gone to attend a community feast at a nearby temple when the incident occurred.
While playing near the venue, Devansh reportedly slipped and fell into a deep pit filled with rainwater. Family members and villagers rushed to rescue him, but by the time he was pulled out, he had already died. The tragedy left the family in shock and mourning.
Villagers said the pit had been lying open for a long time and filled with water after recent rains. They alleged that repeated complaints had been submitted to the Greater Noida Authority seeking action to fill such hazardous pits and ensure safety measures, but no steps were taken.
Residents also claimed that concerns were raised after a similar incident in Sector 150, yet the administration failed to act, leading to the fatal accident.
SHOCKING REMINDER OF NOIDA TECHIE’S DEATH
The incident is a shocking reminder of the Noida techie Yuvraj Mehta’s death whose car plunged into a waterlogged pit at the site in sector 150, on the intervening night of January 16 and 17. For nearly two hours, Mehta stood atop his vehicle, while rescue teams hesitated to enter the water body, citing the freezing weather and submerged iron rods. The incident has raised serious questions on the lapses of the authorities.
