Shochiku has finally released the opening animation of You and I Polar Opposites, which premiered on January 11, on YouTube.
The opening’s director is Kyohei Ishiguro, the director of anime like Your Lie in April, Occultic;Nine, and Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop. Similar to his SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary Season 2 opening, Ishiguro’s new short-form work features a smorgasbord of creative ideas and noticeable use of mixed media imagery.
noa’s “Lose the frames” is the opening theme song.
You and I Are Polar Opposites follows the romance between two teens with differing personalities and their friends. It adapts the manga by Kocha Agasawa.
The manga started serialization on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ in May 2022 and ended in November 2024, on the same day as the anime’s announcement. Manga Plus describes the premise as such:
Suzuki, an energetic girl who can’t help but follow the crowd, finds herself drawn to Tani, a quiet boy who can easily speak his mind. Enter: the serialization of a hit one-shot! A story for anyone who wants to enjoy love! This down-to-earth, relatable rom-com is ready to pull at your heartstrings!
