Gelato Messina’s Mega Christmas Trifle Is Back—And It’s An Absolute Unit
Image credit: Gelato Messina | Website
In news you’ll want to clear the freezer for, Messina’s back to deliver their signature Christmas chaos in the form of a massive sugar hit. Their legendary Christmas Coma trifle is back for 2025, and this year it’s joined by a brand new bauble that’s smaller in size, but not in flavour.
Starting with the main event, the Christmas Coma is a monster gelato-based trifle. Picture layers of passionfruit sorbet, strawberry gelato, baked cheesecake, passionfruit cheesecake mousse, vanilla chantilly, Italian meringue, raspberry-jam Swiss roll and raspberry jelly, all of which comes with a litre of Messina brandy custard. Clocking in at $250, this hefty trifle will feed 20-30 according to Messina, but we’ll let you be the judge.
Then there’s the new kid on the block. The Pistachio Christmas Bauble is a brand new showstopper that’s basically edible art. Crack open a glossy milk chocolate shell and you’ll find pistachio praline, pistachio crunch, pistachio gelato and a swirl of white chocolate mousse, and at $150 you can feed a crowd of 8-10. Even better? Order both and get a cheeky $50 discount.
Both can be pre-ordered here and believe us, these will sell out fast. Check the Messina website here for specific delivery and pick up options in your area.

A New Era for The Historic Fox Hotel As Ghanem Group Revives South Brisbane Icon

One of Brisbane’s most iconic venues is getting a major level-up, with hospitality heavyweights Ghanem Group (Donna Chang, Blackbird, Byblós) officially taking over The Fox Hotel in South Brisbane. The historic venue, nestled in the heart of Fish Lane, will undergo a full transformation before reopening in late 2025, after a three year closure, as a multi-storey dining and entertainment precinct.
A staple of Brisbane’s nightlife for decades, The Fox’s rebirth will see its heritage-listed bones carefully restored while layering in Ghanem Group’s signature modern style. Think multiple dining destinations, a vibey cocktail lounge, function spaces, a revamped public bar, a gaming lounge, and—best of all—a rooftop terrace with sweeping city views. Brothers Adonis and Nehme Ghanem are thrilled to be the next custodians of the historic, heritage-listed site, revitalising it into something truly special for the community.
“This is our largest and one of our most exciting projects to date,” says Ghanem Group Director Adonis Ghanem. “The growing community of this area has long-awaited the return of this legendary venue, and to have the opportunity to bring the next era of dining and entertainment to this iconic site is a true honour.”
The redesign, led by Space Cubed Design Studio, will stay true to the hotel’s Art Deco charm while introducing a new wave of world-class dining and drinking experiences. Whether you’re stopping in for a long lunch, a sunset cocktail, or a big night out, The Fox’s next chapter is shaping up to be seriously impressive.
