A trailer and key visual for The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 have been released.
A batch of fifth anniversary projects for the anime were also revealed, including a Nintendo Switch game. Others include an ASMR product featuring Siesta’s voice, covers of the first season’s theme songs by Siesta (opening) and Nagisa (ending), an official TikTok account, and a lineup of season x heroine visuals and voice dramas. The voice dramas will be penned by the light novels’ author nigozyu, and will begin to be released on YouTube on April 10 in Japan. A spring visual featuring Siesta is now out.

The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 was supposed to begin airing this July, but was recently pushed to October. The anime’s first season aired in 2021, not long after the KADOKAWA-published, Umibouzu-illustrated light novel series began publication in 2019. Yen Press describes the light novels’ synopsis as such:
Kimitsuka Kimihiko was the assistant to a beautiful detective named Siesta — until Siesta died, anyway. Now, Kimitsuka has encountered a girl who bears an uncanny resemblance to his former boss…
The Detective Is Already Dead light novel series, which is the recipient of the 15th MF Bunko J Light Novel Rookie of the Year award, has 13 volumes as of 2025. The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation as well as manga and light novel spin-offs.
