The second season of The Detective Is Already Dead will now begin airing in October due to production reasons. It was previously scheduled for a July broadcast premiere.

The Detective Is Already Dead adapts the KADOKAWA-published light novel series written by nigozyu and illustrated by Umibouzu. Yen Press describes the light novels’ synopsis as such:
Kimitsuka Kimihiko was the assistant to a beautiful detective named Siesta — until Siesta died, anyway. Now, Kimitsuka has encountered a girl who bears an uncanny resemblance to his former boss…
The Detective Is Already Dead light novel series debuted in 2019 and has 13 volumes as of 2025. It is the recipient of the 15th MF Bunko J Light Novel Rookie of the Year award. The light novels have inspired a manga as well as spin-offs in both manga and light novel form.
The anime’s first season aired in 2021.
