The Dangers in My Heart first debuted in the pages of Weekly Shonen Champion in 2018. The manga follows the growing relationship between the short, gloomy Kyotaro Ichikawa and the tall, popular Anna Yamada. A TV anime adaptation started airing in 2023 and was followed by a second season in 2024 (the upcoming movie is a compilation of the TV anime with some new content).

A spin-off starring Kyotaro’s older sister Kana, titled Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu: Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai, began in 2025.

Seven Seas Entertainment describes the main manga series as such:

Quirky courtship awaits in this comedy nominated for the 2020 Manga Taisho Award!

Kyotaro Ichikawa, a boy barely clinging to the bottom rung of his school’s social ladder, secretly believes he’s the tortured lead in some psychological thriller. He spends his days dreaming up ways to disrupt his classmates’ peaceful lives and pining after Anna Yamada, the class idol. But Kyotaro’s not nearly the troubled teen he pretends to be…and it turns out Anna’s a bit odd herself!

The Dangers in My Heart‘s volumes are published under the Shonen Champion Comics label.
