The Babar Azam jersey number has taken an interesting turn as the Sydney Sixers introduced a unique “056” design for the Pakistan star ahead of Big Bash League (BBL) 15.
The franchise announced the update through its social media platforms, sharing visuals of the Pakistan star at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Babar is known for wearing the number 56, but the Sixers have unveiled a creative variation for this season. The 30-year-old batter will wear the number 056, while Australian pacer Mitchell Starc will continue with the traditional 56.
The franchise described the adjustment as a lighthearted and stylish way to distinguish the two high-profile players who prefer the same number.
The announcement came as Babar arrived in Sydney for what is expected to be one of the most closely watched international appearances of the upcoming BBL.
BBL 15 will take place from December 14, 2025, to January 25, 2026, featuring 44 matches scheduled mainly during prime-time evenings. The revised format and international players are expected to boost global viewership throughout the tournament.
Pakistan will have a major presence across several teams this season. Alongside Babar Azam jersey number hype and Shaheen Shah Afridi’s presence, players such as Mohammad Rizwan, Hassan Khan, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, and Hasan Ali will also represent different franchises.
Their inclusion is expected to add flair and intensity, given their current form and massive fan support.
The BBL has confirmed that the 2025–26 finals will keep the traditional four-match format, with the Qualifier set for January 20 and the Grand Final on January 25, 2026.
