Suspect arrested in stabbing near Northeastern University

A Boston man was arrested in connection to the stabbing near Northeastern University on Wednesday morning, police announced.

Stephen Dantzler, 58, was arrested after video footage showed him in the area where the incident took place, Boston police said in a statement. He was expected to be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to 291 St. Botolph St. for a reported stabbing. Police later clarified that’s where the victim was located and the stabbing took place at 291 Huntington Ave., or near the intersection of Huntington Avenue and Gainsborough Street. The victim was taken to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred off-campus, a Northeastern spokesperson previously told Boston.com. The victim, who is not affiliated with the school, then entered a university building afterward and received help from campus police, she said.
