Super Bowl LX breaks streaming record for DISNEY+ in Australia

Monday’s broadcast of Super Bowl LX has delivered record streaming numbers locally, marking a major milestone for ESPN on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand.

The NFL showpiece has officially become the most watched live sporting event on Disney+ in the region by hours streamed since ESPN launched on the platform in March 2025.

Played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy, while Bad Bunny headlined a globally watched halftime show.

The game was also called exclusively for Australia and New Zealand audiences by ESPN’s Chris Fowler, Dan Orlovsky, Louis Riddick and Australian Super Bowl champion Jordan Mailata.

The Walt Disney Company Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand and Head of ESPN Asia Pacific, Kylie Watson-Wheeler, said the result highlighted strong engagement for live sport on the platform.

“This blockbuster Super Bowl viewership is the perfect demonstration of ESPN being the go-to destination for Aussies and Kiwis to watch the sporting events and cultural moments that simply can’t be missed.”

While Disney+ recorded its own streaming milestone, the Super Bowl was also broadcast free to air on Channel 7 in Australia, drawing a total television audience of 635,000 and reaching just over two million viewers across its main broadcast.

The event was additionally available via DAZN’s NFL Game Pass, which carried the straight U.S. broadcast feed, along with screenings in venues and workplaces nationwide, underscoring the game’s expanding footprint locally.

This year marked the first time the Super Bowl and localised studio programming were available via ESPN on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand, complementing ESPN’s broader NFL coverage across Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV and Sky NZ.

A full replay of Super Bowl LX is now available to Disney+ subscribers.
