STEEL BALL RUN Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure 2nd STAGE Gets Fall 2026 Premiere, Weekly Release Schedule

Netflix has finally revealed a firmer release window for STEEL BALL RUN Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure 2nd STAGE, along with details about the anime’s release plan.

STEEL BALL RUN JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure 2nd Stage, which received a teaser late last month, will premiere this fall. Instead of a single extended episode or a batch of episodes, 2nd Stage will have its episodes dropped weekly.

Netflix also says that “We are planning a split‑cour release across the entire run of episodes,” and that 2nd Stage is the “next cour.” It adds that “This release schedule is part of our original plan and reflects the wishes of the production committee.”

The 47-minute first episode of STEEL BALL RUN Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, an action-adventure title based on the seventh part of Hirohiko Araki’s Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure manga, premiered on March 19. The timeline for future episodes’ release was unclear at the time, with director Yasuhiro Kimura telling Anime Trending contributor Daryl Harding, “I don’t know. It takes a lot of time to make just one episode, but production is going smoothly, and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished episode as much as you are!”

The Steel Ball Run manga ran from 2004 to 2011. It was initially serialized in Shonen Jump before moving to the monthly, seinen magazine Ultra Jump (subsequent Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure installments have also been Ultra Jump titles). Viz Media is publishing it in English.

The anime’s synopsis reads:

It’s 1890, in America, the Steel Ball Run — the first horse racing championship across the North American continent — was about to begin. Spanning around 4,000 miles, the race offered 50 million dollars as the winning prize. Johnny Joestar, once being hailed as a genius jockey, is now paralysed and lost in despair. He finds hope in the mysterious phenomena caused by Gyro Zeppeli, an outlaw aiming to win the race, and determines to participate in the Steel Ball Run Race. Each having their own goal in mind, the two form an alliance and set foot upon the gruelling adventure and race.

The Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure series, which depicts the varied adventures of the Joestar family, began in 1986. Its ninth part The JOJOLands debuted in February 2023. The manga initially inspired an OVA series and a movie that were produced by the now-inactive Another Push Pin Planning.

The current line of david production-produced anime, including an OVA adaptation of the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan spin-off, started in 2012. The Steel Ball Run anime was preceded by 2022’s Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.
