Miranda Edmonds, who co directed the film alongside Khrob Edmonds, said the project is deeply tied to its setting and aims to connect audiences with the natural world.

“Whale Shark Jack is our love letter to Exmouth and the magnificent whale sharks of Ningaloo Reef.”

Set in coastal Western Australia, the film follows a young girl navigating grief and change as she searches for connection, pinning her hopes on the return of a whale shark that once shaped her world.

The project also brings together a broader ensemble including Abbie Cornish, Michael Dorman, Ursula Yovich and Rachel Ward, rounding out a cast anchored by emerging talent.
