A 24-year-old man was killed in a tragic road accident in Ahmedabad after his speeding car rammed into a tree while he was on his way to pick up his wife from his in-laws’ house. CCTV footage of the crash has now surfaced, highlighting the severity of the impact.
The incident took place late on the night of February 12 on Vatva GIDC Road, an area that has witnessed a growing number of road accidents in recent months. According to officials, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to over speeding, causing the car to veer off the road and crash into a roadside tree.
The deceased has been identified as Akash Goswami, a resident of Vavol in Gandhinagar district. Goswami worked with a private company based in Changodar. Police said he was driving a Hyundai Accent car when the accident occurred.
Goswami’s wife had recently gone to her village Barejadi, and he was travelling to pick her up when the fatal crash took place. The collision was so forceful that the vehicle was badly damaged and Goswami sustained critical injuries. He died on the spot before any medical assistance could arrive.
Family members said Goswami had been married for three years. His sudden death left his family in shock and mourning. His last rites were performed on February 13 in Veda village, following traditional rituals.
The incident has once again raised concerns over reckless driving and speeding on city roads. Local residents have also pointed to Vatva GIDC Road as a stretch where accidents frequently occur, particularly at night.
Traffic police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials are reviewing the CCTV footage and examining whether any other factors contributed to the accident.
