Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! is based on Hori’s 4-koma spinoff manga Azur Lane Bisoku Zenshin!, which was launched in Ichijinsha’s Manga 4-koma Palette magazine on March 2, 2018. Five tankobon volumes have been released in Japan as of September 2025.
The Azur Lane franchise started with a side-scrolling shooter mobile game that was first released in 2017. It inspired a 2019 television anime series from Bibury Animation Studios and the Queen’s Orders OVA that was released in July 2023.
The premise of Azur Lane sees the fleets of the titular organization combating a threat known as the Sirens. Google Play describes the game as a “mix of RPG, 2D shooter and tactical genres.”
