Voice actress Shizuka Ito has been cast in the ongoing Golden Kamuy Final Season as Kaeko Kaneko. The final season began its broadcast on January 5, 2026 and is streaming in select countries and territories worldwide on Crunchyroll.
Shizutaka Sugahara (reprising from Season 4) is serving as the chief director for the anime’s fifth season, with Takumi Yamakawa (reprising from Season 4) as character designer and Noboru Takagi (reprising) as series composer. Brain’s Base (since Season 4) is in charge of the animation production.
The Golden Kamuy anime began in 2018 and has released four seasons. The first three seasons were produced by Geno Studio until Brain’s Base took over for the fourth season in 2022.
The anime is based on Satoru Noda’s historical adventure manga series, which ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Young from August 21, 2014 to April 28, 2022. A total of 31 tankobon volumes were published in Japan under the Young Jump Comics label.
The manga also inspired a live-action film adaptation and a sequel TV series titled Golden Kamuy: The Hunt of Prisoners in Hokkaido in 2024. Both are streaming on Netflix overseas.
A second live-action movie, Golden Kamuy: Abashiri Kangoku Shuugeki-hen, is scheduled to premiere on March 13, 2026.

In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Faced with the harsh conditions of the northern wilderness, ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will need all his skills and luck—and the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to survive.
