Shivamogga-Bhadravati Urban Development Authority (SUDA) has prepared the Shivamogga Masterplan-2041, which has been submitted to the Department of Urban Development of the government of Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters in Shivamogga on February 3, SUDA Chairperson H.S. Sundaresh stated that the last master plan was prepared in 2010. A revised master plan has been prepared after consulting all stakeholders considering the city’s growth and its population projections for 2041. “Once approved by the department, the draft master plan will be published to enable people to submit objections. People will have two months to file their objections,” the Chairperson said.
The master plan has catered to the needs of hospitals, educational institutions, roads, residential layouts, truck terminals, and other essentials in tune with the growing population, he said.
The Chairperson stated that the authority had proposed developing layouts in Nidige, Gopishetti, and Urugadur villages. Applications were invited for a layout being developed on four acres of land in Urugadur. Among the 12,000 people who took the application forms, over 4,000 returned them. The process of site allotment would begin within a couple of months, the Chairperson said
The authority has planned an apartment complexes with 1,000 units. The project needs to be approved by the State Cabinet. “At the authority, we have the power to clear action plans that require funding of up to only ₹25 lakh. For the rest, we need to obtain cabinet approval,” he added.
Mr. Sundaresh said that his term as chairperson of the authority would end by the end of February.
