Shanaya Kapoor wears a Gaurav Gupta sari in metallic greys, where the eye is pulled first to the blouse. Worn off the shoulder, it curves across the bust in layered bands, creating a contoured surface, one of Gupta’s signature styles.
The sari moves in a silver-to-charcoal gradient, its sequinned surface catching light unevenly as it wraps across the body. Rather than reading as a single sweep of shine, the fabric breaks into tonal sections as it moves.
Drop earrings and hand chains from Indinoor, co-created by Kapoor, are worn with slicked-back hair, a flush of blush and winged liner.
With its dense sequin surface, this sari sits best in evening settings that allow light and stillness to do their thing.

“The takeaway from Shanaya Kapoor’s look is the sculptural blouse. One that takes focus over the sari, to create such a look, work with a blouse or crop top that is detailed with pleats, surface embroidery techniques, made of interesting materials or holds a unique shape. Then work with a sari in a similar tonality or a complementary colour scheme. Accessorise minimally, keeping the blouse as your main statement,” says Vogue India fashion associate Divya Balakrishnan.
