The “Selling Sunset” star’s new South Shore facility will produce items for her frozen food brand, Coast to Coast Kitchen.
Realtor and entrepreneur Emma Hernan of “Selling Sunset” fame is expanding her seafood brand, Coast to Coast Kitchen.
Emma Hernan is growing her food business on the South Shore.
The Scituate native and “Selling Sunset” star has closed on a new $4.6 million frozen food manufacturing facility in Hingham, according to the Boston Business Journal. The 28,000-square-foot factory is expected to begin production in July and employ about 50 people.
The new facility will produce items for Hernan’s frozen food brand, Coast to Coast Kitchen, including products such as crab cakes and shrimp spring rolls. It will also make products for brands owned by members of her family, including Yankee Trader Seafood, the Business Journal reported.
The Hernan family already has a significant food manufacturing presence on the South Shore. The publication reported that the family operates a 32,000-square-foot facility in Hingham with about 100 employees. They also lease a factory in Pembroke that was the original home of Yankee Trader Seafood.
Hernan told the outlet that food remains her long-term focus, even as she has gained national attention through real estate and Netflix.
“The food industry is my baby and that’s going to be my forever. The show and everything is important because of brand awareness.”
She added that the new factory will prioritize hiring local women. More than 90% of the employees at the family’s current facility are women.
Coast to Coast Kitchen launched Feb. 16 with an exclusive rollout at Target stores nationwide, and Hernan said more products and retail partnerships are ahead.
