School Days Remastered Pre-orders Available on JAST

Game publisher JAST has recently announced that pre-orders for the School Days Remastered visual novel are now available. There’s a 10% discount attached, but for owners of the previous School Days HQ release, JAST says the new version is free.

School Days Remastered was released in Japan on December 19, 20 years after the 2005 original version. The adult romance visual novel sees protagonist Makoto receiving assistance from his classmate Sekai in getting together with another girl, Kotonoha. Things go well at first, but a love triangle is brewing.

JAST says that the remaster retains the original’s “full-animation gameplay” (the visual novel opts for an anime-style presentation with mouth movement instead of the typical character sprites) while having improved visuals and new features like autosaving and changeable settings. The game is listed as having more than 20 endings, with a scene select function allowing players to head back to “key branching points,” and a “Timed choice system where silence is always a valid option.”

The previous School Days HQ release first came out in Japan in 2010 as a “High Quality remake and graphic upgrade” with additional, uncensored “ero scenes.”

The Overflow-developed School Days is the first entry in the Days series, which includes the titles SummerDaysCross DaysSHINY DAYS, and IslandDays. The School Days name is also synonymous with the 2007 TV anime produced by TNK and directed by Keitaro Motonaga (Date A Live Season 1 to 3), which features an infamous ending. The visual novel also inspired two OVA, novels, and a manga.
